Goliad is My Home, Sweet Home!! My husband, Alonzo, and I have been married for 33 years. I have been employed by Goliad County E.M.S. for twenty-six years as an Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced and volunteered for six years prior to that. We also own Highway Garage a family business. Alonzo and I have served on several boards, organizations and have lent a helping hand where we can. Volunteering is one of our greatest accomplishments.
I have been a part of the Main Street Board for several years. As Chair of the Main Street Board, I admire our board and Keli, for their outstanding dedication, volunteering, preserving and promoting our Main Street District. I truly enjoy working towards making a difference in our little historic city. My heart is so full when I see the "Square" filled with visitors. As I always do, I would to extend an invitation to you to visit our historic and beautiful Main Street District.

I was born and raised in Goliad and am a graduate of Goliad High School. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with an education degree. I taught school for 37 years, the last 28 here in Goliad. Upon retiring, I wanted to volunteer and give back to this wonderful town. I serve on the Goliad County Library board, Lions Club as VP, Goliad Co. Retired School Personnel, Goliad Co. Chamber of Commerce, and am honored to serve on Goliad Main Street. Goliad has much to offer and I want it to shine like the jewel it is.

Meet Shelia Edwards, a proud native of Goliad. Shelia graduated from Goliad High School in 1982 and Southwest Texas State University in Secondary Education in 1986. Shelia is a recent retiree from the Texas Health and Human Services after working for various state agencies for the last thirty five years in social services. Even though Shelia has lived in large cities the opportunity to give back to her hometown was a draw to return. Shelia describes Goliad as a safe sanctuary and just the right balance between past and future. Working on the Goliad Main Street Board is the perfect avenue to promote what Goliad has to offer the local residents and to entice tourism. Per Shelia there is little effort required to brag on her hometown. From the unique small town shops to the elegant courthouse square there is always something going on worth bragging on.
